A House? A Palace!

The Rebbe did not make a request from Reb Zusha to build him a palace... until Reb Zusha Rivkin a”h, and Reb Avrohom Leider a”h, asked the Rebbe to come to Eretz Yisroel to be revealed as Moshiach in the late seventies.

The Rebbe’s astounding response was that it should be in writing.

Immediately Chassidim penned their request, and their signatures were
sent to the Rebbe. Shortly afterwards, Reb Zusha asked if he can build the Rebbe a home in Eretz Yisroel, and that’s when the Rebbe responded, “You want to build a house for me?! A palace!!

This story took place in 1978. R’ Zushe Rivkin, a Chossid from Kfar Chabad, came up with an idea to build the Rebbe a home in Eretz Yisroel.

When his brother R’ Chaim went to New York, R’ Zushe asked him to present the Rebbe with the suggestion to build the Rebbe a home in Kfar Chabad.

During a private audience with the Rebbe, R’ Chaim said that his brother wants to build a house for the Rebbe in Kfar Chabad. The Rebbe gazed at him and replied, “He wants to build a house for me?!...A palace!!”

Then the Rebbe added, “But not now. Wait to build.”
